An often overlooked feature in Reunion 9 is find and replace. I think this is because we tend to use the Find button on the toolbar instead of using the Find | Anything menu item.
At the bottom of the Find menu is a item called Replace…. It enables you to find and replace all occurrences of one piece of text with another. The search text can be sensitive to lower and upper case. It can limit the changes to marked people. It can also apply the change to all fields, or all source fields, or limit it to one these selected fields:
- First and middle names
- Last names
- All names
- Addresses
- Places
- Memos
- Facts
- Notes
- Structured source fields
- Free form source fields
One example of a use for this feature is replacing names without properly accented letters with an appropriately accented name. In this video from the MacGenealogist Archives, Find and Replace Names with Accented Letters in Reunion 9 for Mac Genealogy Software, I’ll show you how to make such a change without having to visit each family card. Along the way I’ll show you how to insert accented characters when the need arises.

Hello Ben:
With the Canadian dollar back in the 80 cent range, it makes it difficult to buy some of the software on your program. On top of this we have shipping costs, duty etc. For example, I wanted Reunion 9. It is listed on Amazon at $99.00 US. This is $123.00 Canadian. We don't know the amount for shipping or duty . In the MacStation here it is $129.00C. That leaves $6.00 to play with. Throwing caution to the wind I tried to order from your supplier only to be told that they could not ship here! So I had to cancel my order and get it from the local Apple store. Sorry about that!

Dell, I appreciate your intent. Thank you for trying!
Buying items from my affiliates and sponsors helps me defray some of the costs of operating this site. If you can do so I appreciate it. If you can't or the cost is too high, that's okay too. I understand. I want you to do what's best for you. My primary interest is that you find value in my articles and videos. I have faith that if I provide value I will be compensated in equal measure.
By the way, sales of memberships provides considerably more revenue than the advertisements. It still does not cover expenses, but it is better than the ad revenue. In fact, I've been considering removing some or all of the advertisements for products other than my own.
